What is a market edge?

A market edge is a repeatable insight, pattern, or strategy that helps identify better trading opportunities. In the 1980s, a math professor named Jim Simons built Renaissance Technologies by combining data science and algorithms to find these edges – and changed Wall Street forever.
At Nirvana, we use modern AI agents to do the same thing – faster, across more markets, and on top of decades of data. The edges we find drive the algorithms that manage real money for real customers.

Nirvana Systems was founded in 1987 to serve the trading-automation space. We’ve shipped four trading and investing platforms used by individuals, advisors, and institutions to automate their strategies.

In much the same way Renaissance Technologies conquered the quant world with data science, we’re applying AI automation to find the next generation of market edges. Today our algorithms manage $250M+ – and our goal is to become the investment platform of choice for everyday Americans.

Fall 2026 AI Internship Application

Section 1 · About you

Tell us how to reach you.
Required when Current grade = Junior or Senior, or the applicant is under 18, so we can loop them in.

Section 2 · School and availability — Fall 2026

If yes, answer the next question and skip the three after it (high school, current grade, expected graduation year).
Answer only if you have graduated. Work, college, a gap year, something you are building on your own — tell us where you are and what you are looking for. A few sentences is plenty.
Skip if you have already graduated.
* While the program is primarily geared towards current Juniors and Seniors, we know there are Freshmen and Sophomores who have likely pursued the use of AI much earlier. We would consider bringing on younger interns who have significantly advanced beyond their peers, with parental and school approval.
Minimum two hours per visit, between 8am and 6pm.
Sports, AP courses, college applications, another job — tell us honestly. We would rather plan around it than discover it in October.
You are paid for it whether or not we hire you.

Section 3 · Something you built

We would rather see one real thing than a list of ten.
GitHub, a live site, a video walkthrough, a Colab notebook — anything we can actually open. If it is messy, half-finished, or broken, link it anyway and say so. We are more interested in what you attempted than in how polished it looks.

Section 4 · Five questions about your experience with AI

Please write these yourself. Using AI is part of the job here and we expect you to use it,  but in this section we want your own voice. We can tell the difference, and we would far rather read something rough and true than something that is AI-polished and generic. About 150 words each is plenty.

Examples: Coding with Claude Code, Codex, etc. Building Agentic Processes, Working with Open Weight Models, Researching Market Opportunities, Trading Market Derivates such as Options and Futures, Building Services in the Cloud, or any other area(s).

Nobody knows all of these. We just want to see where you have experimented.

Section 6 · Confirm and submit

Add any final thoughts you'd like to communicate, such as career goals, aspirations, special interests/hobbies - anything that gives us the best possible picture of your interests, who you are and where you are in your Life Journey.

Submissions are reviewed within ten days. Strong applications are invited to the paid research program.
